Untitled (Archive Filodrammatica) consists of two interconnected series developed for a solo exhibition at the Filodrammatica Gallery in Rijeka, Croatia (2023), organized by
Drugo More Association. The project is rooted in the historical and spatial context of the Filodrammatica building, constructed in 1890—a site layered with traces of cultural memory, institutional history, and contemporary artistic practice.
The first series is based on archival photographs by Ilario Carposio, preserved in the State Archives in Rijeka, depicting the building’s original façade and interior. These images were transferred onto paper using screen printing, with pigment made from dust collected inside the building. This material, a residue of air flow and time, produces unusually bright, translucent prints—evoking both presence and disappearance, surface and memory.
These monochromatic works reflect the gradual erosion of material ideals, architectural intentions, and cultural structures. In contrast, the second series introduces an installation structured around light and color: photographs of the building’s current interior are displayed in double-sided lightboxes placed on stacks of furniture sourced from the site itself. This element suggests a resistant, living energy within the layered decay—an order emerging from disorder.
Together, the two series form a dialogue between static and dynamic, archival and experiential, highlighting the tension between the illusion of permanence and the reality of transformation. Through this interplay, the work captures the physical, intellectual, and emotional traces left by generations of Filodrammatica’s users and audiences.
